Female sexuality is the central theme in the photographs of the Catalan Laia Abril. With their warm feel of a family documentary, her images dislocate viewers, who find themselves suddenly trapped in the intimacy of others and required to take a stance on uncomfortable realities that remain veiled in society. Abril combines photography with
other multimedia tools, such as video and graphic design, in a work in progress which La Fábrica attests to in its PHotoBolsillo collection.

Presentation of GUERREROS URBANOS of JEOSM. The striking black and white images by photographer Jeosm portray graffiti artists jumping over fences, climbing walls and crouched down in the undergrowth, awaiting the right time to paint the walls of their city. These photographs capture this controversial art with poetic precision, and also knowledge of the cause. A book with text of Arturo Pérez-Reverte.

Gabriela Cendoya. She’s born in San Sebastiano in ’58, but spent most of her life in France, where during the first years in the University of Bordeaux as fine arts student, started to buy books of contemporary painting, art in general and also some photobooks and comics. In the begging her library was eclectic, but gently photography books began to take more prominence, to such point that in the last 6-7 years her purchases have become, in her own words, compulsive. Today she has about 1300 or 1400 books of photography.

Yumi Goto will talk about photobook as object, how the photobook could be so personal. She will be talking about some photobooks examples that they have produced through the workshop they did since 2014. All her publications are produced by handmade by the authors, it’s a smaller edition and very detailed with special meaning, unique and personal. Also those smaller edition books have reproduced as a trade edition in the large audience.

The Blank Paper Collective emerged from a shared artistic interest: to photograph the everyday. Its founders’ purpose was to generate an encounter where new ideas and projects would germinate. La Fábrica compiles in a PhotoBolsillo the photographs by its founders (the photographers Fosi Vegué, Antonio M.Xoubanova, Alejandro Marote, Ricardo Cases, Julián Barón, Mario Rey and Óscar Monzón), each with their own unmistakeable personality and with the premise of being different while remaining unique.

Federico Clavarino. The Castle is a building made with images and it consists of four parts. Its first chapter, “The Dead”, refers to its modern founding myth: the events that led to the contemporary European order. Chapter two, “The Organising Principles”, deals with the ideas of power and authority that are at the basis of European societies. Chapter three, “The Castle”, explores the resulting building by evidencing its elements of separation and control. Finally, the fourth and last chapter, “At Twilight”, is at the same time a prophecy and an exhortation.

Chaco believes in the book as an imperfect object and alive who carries a unique, physical and personal, impossible to get in long runs gesture. That is why often produces small and limited editions. Understands the craft of making books as a creative way to deal with the artist, reinterpreting his work in a new expressive medium.
And it is interested in projects working around social or political in its various forms of expression issues.

In the work Muchismo, the photographer Cristina de Middel digs around in her studios and brings all of her images to light, exactly the way she has them stored, in colossal, gorgeous chaos, to show them in the exhibition of the same name to be held in June at the Teatro Fernán Gómez in Madrid. This is a sui generis display of her entire oeuvre, with neither a curator nor any apparent order, which seeks to question the art market and its rules.
At the same time, the artist is holding another exhibition of the Antipodes series in La Fábrica (Madrid), a series made up of pictures taken in New Zealand in which the artist strives to bring depth back to landscape photography by using mirrors and her own devices. Both series are captured in this publication, a book that had become an object of desire even before it materialised.

Cuando aún nevaba of Jesús Labandeira. The photographs of Labandeira are landscapes of the memories, no sky or horizon, constructions of the desire. Images in “tones that blend in vague gray, textures bordering nothing, photographs about to vanish without a trace of their existence in the white paper”. A landscape dreamed and recreated by the author, in search of his oldest dreams. In words of Canovas, “what do you do when there is
no desired picture of our childhood, when there is no fragile paper setting out what we were, let alone what we would have been? The part of us that vanished deep in inaccessible depths, which forces us to look at remote hours, hides and protects in childhood’s snow, where it continues playing, where we get songs that no longer moisten our dry eyes “. A photographic work such delicate as disturbing, where the contrasts of black and white twist to unlikely extremes.
