BMW Painitng Prize launchs a new edition again based on the dymamics of participation through the web. As in the former edition each participant can participate with a total of five paintings, although only one may be awarded.
The website www.premiodepintura.bmw.es will be the platform through which the candidacies will be received. All pre selected works should be sent phisically once the participation deadline is finished. Along with the quality of the works, the jury will asses the candidates potential. So that, candidates are encouraged to send a CV, a full dossier of their previous works, and any further information they may consider relevant.
A total of 43.000 € will be distributed in the following prizes categories:
BMW Painting Prize: 25.000 €
Mario Antolin´s Scholarship for Pictorical Research 8.000 €
Innovation Prize 6000 €
BMW Painting Prize to the Youngest talent 4000 €
The jury is formed by a group of professionals of the arts and culture in Spain: Enrique de Ybarra Ybarra, Tomás Paredes Romero, Luis Mª Anson Oliat, Carmen Iglesias Cano, José Guirao Cabrera, Blanca Berasátegui Garaizabal y Antonio Bonet Correa.

The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony held at the Teatro Real in Madrid. Her Royal Highness Queen Sofía will preside over the ceremony. Lastly a concert for the benefit of the World in Harmony Foundation, presided by Her Royal Highness Princess Irene of Greece will close the awards ceremony. The main goal of this foundation is the development of humanitarian projects for persons or organization in need regardless of their race, religion, nationality or ideology.
Since 1996 more than 21.000 artists from several nationalities and diverse painting styles have participated in the BMW Painting Prize. Ángelas Agrela was the winner in last year´s edition which counted with the participation of more than 1000 and 2.300 art works.
