This programme, an initiative possible thanks to the support of the Creative Europe programme, will foster exchange between European photography and visual arts professionals
Between May and June 210 photographers will show their works to 63 experts. A jury will choose 30 projects from among those selected for the portfolio reviews to be included in three group exhibitions that will be shown in Madrid, Helsinki and Athens

In addition to that, Transeurope has organized preparatory workshops in 14 different countries as a previous phase to the portfolio reviews and exhibitions, involving some of the main cultural institutions in cities such as: Riga, Kaunas, Paris, Zagreb, Nicosia and Belgrade

Transeurope, the forum for the European photography and visual arts industry, will celebrate three portfolio reviews during May and June in Helsinki, Madrid and Athens. 210 photographers will participate reviewed by 63 experts. An on-line gallery with all the participants will be published as well as a printed magazine and an exhibition with the 30 winning photography projects. This activity aims to promote cultural exchange and learning experiences among participants and with the experts who will review their work, thus resulting in the creation of an international network of contacts relevant both in professional and personal context. The call will be open until March 26th .
Three curators will choose 30 projects from among those selected for the portfolio reviews to be included in group exhibitions that will be shown in Madrid, Helsinki and Athens.
To accompany these travelling exhibitions, Transeurope will publish its own official magazine, which will offer a complete analysis of the 30 selected works.
On an educational level, Transeurope organizes workshops that are aimed at professionals and new talents. The main cultural institutions from 14 cities wil be hosting these activities; Lisbon, Milan, Helsinki, Madrid, Stockholm, Riga, Kaunas, Paris, Zagreb, Nicosia, Belgrade, Athens, Tallin and Bucharest.
Some of the renowned visual arts professionals that joined the project are: Berndt Arell (director of Fotografiska), Xavier Cannone (director of Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi), Matthew Charon (publisher, editor and founder of RVB Books), Shoair Mavlian (director of Photoworks), Rui Prata (founder and director of Encontros da Imagem Festival), Amelie Schüle (exhibition manager of Unseen), Marieke Wiegel (head of exhibition at Netherlands Photomuseum), and Nadine Wietlisbach, (director of Fotomuseum Winterthur) among others.
About Transeurope
This programme, born last fall, promotes opportunities among professionals and facilitate the creation of international collaboration networks. Through photography workshops, professional activities, portfolio reviews, group exhibitions and the publication of a magazine, Transeurope is an initiative designed to encourage exchange, mobility and visibility for artists in Scandinavia, the eastern and western Mediterranean and the Balkans. This project is made possible thanks to the support of the European Union, through its Creative Europe programme.
Transeurope has a dual identity, as a transnational project that fosters the international mobility of professionals, and as a training project, through activities that improve the skills and technical and artistic knowledge of photographers.
Transeurope is committed to disseminating awareness of photography in its various aspects and to promoting work that originates in the countries of the European Union. In addition, this programme aspires to become a forum of exchange for specialised centres and experts in the visual arts and photography.
As a network, it helps artists internationalise their work, in order to increase their professional opportunities beyond their countries of origin, while providing training activities, and become a linking platform for international experts and institutions. In order to create this network, Transeurope will have a digital platform. The website http://transeuropephoto.eu/ is a virtual container that includes a database, accessible to any interested party, institution, artist or expert, to foster synergies within the framework of the European Union.
