Considerado uno de los poetas españoles actuales más relevantes y actual director del Instituto Cervantes, cuenta con una amplísima trayectoria a sus espaldas, parte de la cual ha reunido en selecciones como Casi cien poemas (1997), Antología personal (2001), Poesía urbana (2002), Poemas (2004) Poesía. 1980-2005, Cincuentena (2009), Ropa de calle (2011), Almudena (2015), Poesía. 1980-2015 y Un mundo navegable (2017). Ha recibido galardones como el Premio Federico García Lorca, el Premio Loewe, el Premio Adonáis, el Premio Nacional de Literatura y el Premio Nacional de la Crítica, entre otros.

Ha publicado Leyendas del promontorio, Diario de un destello (2006), Los ojos de la niebla (2008), Croniria (2009), Las pequeñas espinas son pequeñas (2013), Matria (2018), y las antologías personales La acacia roja (2008), Un sueño dentro de un sueño (2012) y A las órdenes del viento (2012). Su obra, ganadora de numerosos premios, ha sido reunida en el volumen Esta momentánea eternidad (2016).

Madrid, 1975. Poeta y periodista, reconocido con varios premios por su labor literaria, trabaja como periodista en el diario El Mundo como redactor de la sección de Cultura. Colabora además en el periódico con columnas de opinión. Ha publicado diversas obras de poesía, entre las que destacan Los desengaños (2014), por la que consiguió el Premio Loewe en 2014. Además, varios de sus poemas se han incluido en diversas antologías. En 2022 publicó Buena mar, su primera novela.
