The exhibition was presented for the first time in Hôtel des Artes de Toulon (France) from October 2013. It was exhibited at MARCO Museum Vigo (Spain), Centro de Historia in Zaragoza and within PHotoEspaña festival in Madrid.
Through nine artists working with photography, video and installation, the exhibition examines different ways of approaching present and past historical facts. All of them are connected by the intention of reflecting these events, but they work in a way that has more in common with an artistic approach than with photojournalist or photo reportage. From a distanced position from the art, these authors highlight issues such as traces of memory, the wounds, evocation or even re-interpretation of historical events.
Most of these artists work with “constructed” images, they are “image makers” considering themselves as artists or storytellers, as Hans Belting points on his book Anthropology of the Image. On this process, they question the demonstrative identity of the photographic medium.
