The group exhibition Between times, instants, intervals and durations brings together works by seventeen prominent contemporary artists (Jeff Wall, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Tacita Dean, Clare Strand, Michael Wesely, Paul Pfeiffer, Michael Snow, David Claerbout, Ignasi Aballí, Daniel Blaufuks, Jochen Lempert, Erwin Wurm, Iñaki Bonillas, Joachim Koester, Mabel Palacín, Ceal Floyer and Steven Pippin) who address the experience of time through different perspectives and methods, whether as a physical, social, phenomenological or aesthetic material.
As its point of departure, the exhibition takes the notion of “the photographic image” as a condition that cuts across multiple visual genres and practices. Above all, the concept itself is related to a visual field that highlights the act of stopping and unfolding movement, rather like the effects that these experiences produce in the perception of time – as peculiar, complex, open – inherent within the image. Bringing together more than 200 works photographs, videos and installations, the exhibition aims to show one of contemporary photography’s most distinctive features is precisely linked to, its special, unique and speculative relationship with notions of Time.
